The local geography ranges from lush evergreen native rain forests, to glades of English trees that change with the seasons. There are alpine deserts, mountain lakes, hot springs and volcanoes, tussock covered hills and undiscovered beaches. Vineyards, fruit orchards and pastoral scenes along with historical colonial settlements and mining towns make for even greater choice of setting.
